Assignment 2:
- In this assignment, you will be creating a website using proper HTML that we are learning in class.
- You will also be graded on the overall look and appeal of the web site, information included, and creativity.
- Your site should consist of a minimum of three pages that make up a complete site upon a unifying topic. (Reminder: Usually the first page of a website should be saved as index.html and serves as an entry page to your site
- Make a web site that people will want to visit and read. Make certain your site has interesting information in it; that it is well organized and easy to navigate; and that it is artistically pleasing.
- Your site should be based around a single subject – one of your choosing! Remember, you are publishing not only for this class, but for the whole world to see!
- Be sure to test your pages in more than one browser: Explorer / Firefox, Safari, and / or Chrome.
- All pages should be uploaded properly to a site such as Dropbox with the proper link posted on your HTML Assignments page that you created in your Weebly portfolio.
- You will be marked on both your content and design, and will lose marks for broken links, html errors, differences in browser experiences, slow load times, and spelling and grammar errors.
Your webpage can be about anything. Examples include:
- favourite band
- favourite team
- favorite athlete
- favorite entertainer
- a friend
- a hobby
- an interest
- anything else that you can think about. My only request is that the page is school appropriate.
I have laid out below the criteria that you must include; however, you are encouraged and required to go online and look for other tags that were not included in class:
- One suggestion is the www.w3schools.com tutorials.
- However, there are thousands of tags that are out there, so have some fun searching the web and finding out what they can do.
Criteria:
- Basic HTML structure (<html>, <body>, <head>, <title>, ect.)
- Code is consistent throughout the document: all lowercase letters, code is broken up into new lines and paragraphs
- Use of at least one paragraph tag
- Use of at least one break tag
- Use of at least one horizontal rule
- Use of at least one comment tag in your source code
- Attribute tags used throughout document using some CSS styling (color, font family, borders, padding, etc.)
- Formatted text throughout
- Use of at least 6 hyperlinks
- Use of at least one email link
- Use of at least one formatted table
- Use of multiple images (Be sure to format these pictures so that they are not just thrown on the page in some random order.
- Use of some sort of formatted background (i.e. color, picture or design)
- Background and text must contrast and be easy to read.
- Use of different colors (i.e. text, background, ect.)
- Use of at least 2 different tags that you found on the internet and taught yourself
- Include at least one movie file in your site. –
Other things to consider:
- If you don't want to work at the same pace as the class, you can use the www.w3schools.com tutorials! Everything that you need to know you can find in that website
- Save everything into ONE FOLDER!!!! In order for a picture to be displayed correctly in your webpage, it must be located in the root folder that you are saving your .html document. NAME YOUR FOLDER (YOUR NAME HTML WEB PAGE)
- BE CREATIVE and HAVE FUN!
